At its Dec. 18 meeting, the Reno County Planning Commission recorded several routine actions by voice vote.
The commission approved the Nov. 20 meeting minutes after Commissioner (Speaker 3) moved to approve them 'as presented' and Commissioner (Speaker 4) seconded. The body approved the minutes by voice vote.
The commission then approved Planning Commission Resolution 2025-02 setting dates, times and location for the 2026 planning calendar; staff noted the May meeting was moved to May 14, 2026, to accommodate a scheduling conflict and that dates can be revised if needed.
Later in the meeting, the commission voted to accept staff’s recommended list of topics for future zoning and subdivision amendments and training (including parking/paving requirements, home-occupation clarifications, private/public road standards and potential battery storage considerations). Commissioner (Speaker 3) moved the motion and it passed by voice vote.
Finally, after reviewing the comprehensive plan, the commission accepted staff’s recommendation that there were no corrections or additions at this time and voted that the plan required no immediate changes; the commission noted the comprehensive plan is typically reviewed on a roughly 10-year cycle and the county is about year seven into the current plan.
The meeting recessed for an annual training session and later adjourned by voice vote.
