Buckingham said he was not aware a resignation was required. Scheib then asked whether the mayor had been given a copy of the Rogers HR investigative summary; the mayor said he had been given that summary by a city employee before Scheib took office. Scheib requested the minutes record both the question and the answer.
Buckingham said he had received a letter from the Department of Human Rights and that he would obtain an attorney through the city; he said taxpayers would pay for that counsel. The exchange included an expression of concern from Scheib about alleged attacks and intimidation directed at council members, which he condemned as inappropriate for running a city.
The council did not take formal disciplinary action during the meeting; however, the questions and answers were requested to be included in the official minutes as recorded.
