Adams County commissioners approved payment Wednesday for the second and final reimbursement installment related to a county WatchGuard camera upgrade.
An unidentified county presenter told the board the project — camera units in deputies’ patrol cars, interview rooms and the data server — is funded by a federal JAG grant and the county is seeking approval to pay $88,880.50 now and be reimbursed later. “This will be the second final payment,” the presenter said, noting a prior payment earlier in the year.
Commissioners voted to authorize the payment after staff said the system upgrade replaced end-of-life equipment and that the county expects to close out the grant and receive reimbursement once the payment is processed. During discussion, a commissioner noted the county shares plate-reading and camera alerts with other agencies; the presenter said partner agencies that subscribe to the network can receive cross-jurisdictional alerts but that local officers typically sign into the system only while on duty.
The vote followed a motion to approve the out-of-cycle claim, which passed without a roll-call breakdown noted in the record.
The action does not change the county’s final grant award; it authorizes processing of an approved reimbursable expense so the vendor can be paid while staff completes federal closeout paperwork.
