Marseilles council approves Grand Rapids estimates and change order for water and drainage work

Commissioner Buckingham moved to approve pay estimate No. 1 to Grand Rapids for $105,379.83 for the Bratton Avenue and Tower Circle Drive drainage project and to approve Estimate No. 1 to Grand Rapids in the amount of $66,985.20 for the 1st Avenue East of Prairie Street water-main project. The council also approved a $12,760 change order for the Bratton/Tower Circle drainage work. Roll-call votes on the estimates and the change order were taken and the measures passed by majority vote.
Council approved bi-monthly accounts payable totaling $304,544.76, which included line items for GIS mapping ($6,598), BOKF debt certificate payment ($139,480), Getz Fire Equipment ($4,280), Lexipol law-enforcement manuals ($9,166.66), North Central Illinois Council of Governments administration fee ($12,750), Catlin Law Firm ($25,097.33), Eschite and Degular Engineering ($13,830), Illinois Power Marketing ($22,524.44), Illinois Public Risk Fund ($6,381), Redwick and Associates ($16,885.27), and Torceli consulting ($4,000). The council also approved payroll for December totaling $105,894.77 (one abstention recorded).
Commissioners described the public-works work as long-overdue infrastructure improvements; one commissioner said the projects had been discussed for 15 years and expressed hope that spring conditions would show the benefit of the work.
