Summary
The Commission on the Arts and Humanities approved FY26 committee meeting dates by acclamation, adopted a resolution extending a special Art Week committee for work in 2026–27, and approved a resolution extending the 2025 strategic plan pending a forthcoming final plan.
At its Oct. 20 meeting the District of Columbia Commission on the Arts and Humanities approved three governance items: FY26 committee meeting dates, an Art Week (special committee) resolution, and a resolution adopting the 2025 strategic plan extension.
Commissioner Julianne read the proposed committee calendars for arts education, community advisory, finance, governance, grants, public art and executive committees and the chair called for approval. The commission approved the committee meeting dates by acclamation.
The commission then voted to approve a resolution extending the special committee for Art Week DC to support work anticipated in the 2026–2027 timeframe; the record shows the motion passed after the chair called for the vote. Commissioners noted the resolutions had been reviewed and recommended by the executive committee prior to the full meeting.
Commissioner Renzo spoke in favor of adopting the 2025 strategic plan extension, saying the resolution affirms that the forthcoming strategic plan will cover mid-FY26 through mid-FY29 and will continue to meet federal requirements for the state partnership agreement with the National Endowment for the Arts. The commission approved the strategic plan resolution; the chair declared the motion carries.
The commission noted that approved committee dates and calendar updates will be posted and that staff will resend a corrected calendar invite for the next meeting.
