Chief Uchman recommended the council authorize a preconstruction/cost-estimating contract with Camosy Construction to develop cost estimates, phasing plans and staff-relocation options for the Glendale Police Department project as architects develop project documents.
Chief Uchman said the preconstruction work would include suggested construction phasing and relocation planning to minimize interruptions at the police department. He also said architects and staff have begun exploring solar panels as a feasible option; the project team will continue to evaluate solar and mechanical/HVAC costs as estimates are developed.
Council members asked for internal-rate-of-return information and payback analysis for solar proposals; the chief said mechanical/HVAC scope will drive significant portions of the budget and that the project team will provide additional numbers as they become available. The council moved and approved the recommendation to proceed with Camosy Construction services.
