Andrew Frick, the event organizer, told council the race — returning for its 30th running — has stabilized at roughly 45 entries after the pandemic and that competitors and spectators spend time and money in the county. He asked for the same route closures the event has used in recent years, with the addition of a Friday-night component that has proven popular.
Council moved and seconded a motion to authorize the closures; members approved the measure by voice vote. The chair thanked the organizer for the event’s contribution to county tourism and business revenue.
No formal conditions or dollar amounts were attached to the approval in the meeting minutes. The council indicated staff will coordinate logistics with mail service and other county departments as needed.
