Resident warns ‘somebody’s gonna get killed’ at Rambold/Miami intersection; council schedules community meeting

Sid Sabo, a Mariemont resident, told the council Dec. 15 he has seen repeated accidents and near‑misses at the bottom of Miami where it meets Rambold (the stop‑controlled intersection) and urged the village to correct the problem, saying, “Somebody’s gonna get killed there.”
Staff told the meeting the village submitted a grant application to ODOT that was rated the highest in the district but was not selected for state funding. Staff described a plan to convene a community meeting in late January or early February to present traffic counts, resident feedback and potential design options, and to solicit another round of comments. Possible options mentioned included closing one end of Rambold, traffic‑calming measures and other adjustments that will be discussed at the forthcoming meeting.
Council and staff acknowledged the concern and committed to sharing findings and scheduling the neighborhood session to review alternatives and next steps.
What happens next: Staff will announce a community meeting in late January or early February to review data, proposed changes and resident feedback.
