Princeton board approves consent agenda, Learn Well agreement and special-education policies; sets January meetings

At its public meeting the Princeton Board of Education approved a series of routine business items, agreed to a vendor contract for services for hospitalized students, adopted required special-education policies for the year and set calendar dates for January organizational and budget hearings.

Motions and outcomes recorded during the meeting included approval of the agenda and the consent agenda, acceptance of the November 2025 financial report, approval of an agreement with Learn Well for the 2025–26 school year to provide in-person instruction for hospitalized or behaviorally impacted students, and adoption of the district's annual special-education policies. Board members also set the organizational meeting for Jan. 5, 2026, and scheduled the 2026 budget hearing for Jan. 12 at 6:15 p.m. The board voted twice to enter executive session under Ohio law to discuss employment and compensation matters.

Treasurer's remarks accompanying the financial report noted a $361,000 difference to the bottom line this month and explained that some expenditures (technology, tax, operations) were reallocated into newly created funds, affecting how the general fund appears. The treasurer also said the district expects to receive the first half of a recently voted levy in January — roughly $6,000,000 — and highlighted a $25,000 check posted to fund 018 from 'Jake Sweeney' as part of a $100,000 naming-rights pledge.

Board members approved an agreement with Learn Well after a brief description that services would be provided in person and reevaluated as needed; the superintendent explained the program placement process and that staff work to determine appropriate student placement. The special-education policy resolution was described as an annual compliance action and was approved with no substantive amendments.

The treasurer also updated the board on the district audit process, saying an independent firm (Plattenburg County Group) is conducting the audit and that staff must meet tight timelines before the holidays.

The board did not take open-session disciplinary action in response to public comment during the meeting; the public-comment allegation about a bus incident was referred to staff follow-up outside open session.
