Cardinal Land Conservancy seeks township resolution to pursue Clean Ohio grant for 59-acre preserve

Andy Dickerson, executive director of Cardinal Land Conservancy, asked the trustees for a resolution of support so his organization can apply for a Clean Ohio Green Space grant to preserve a roughly 59-acre property near River Road and State Route 128.
Dickerson said the parcel has been owned by a development group for about 20 years, is largely undeveloped (the lower ~11 acres formerly used for hay but now grown up in shrubs), and has biodiversity value because of proximity to the Fernald Preserve. He said Hamilton County receives about $2 million annually for green-space grants and that the conservancy is not requesting township funds; the county or state grant would fund acquisition and stewardship work.
Proposed uses include removing invasive species, restoring native oaks on slopes and creating a primitive accessible walking trail of just over three-quarters of a mile. Trustees said they would consider a resolution at the next meeting when absent trustee Dennis can participate. Dickerson provided maps and contact information for follow-up.
