Hamilton County lieutenant details thefts, firearm discharge and other July incidents in Crosby Township

Lieutenant Jeremy Dipoli of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office presented the department's July report for Crosby Township, detailing several thefts and other notable incidents.
Dipoli said on July 19 thieves entered unlocked vehicles on Atherton Road and removed medication and a Springfield 9mm pistol; a second victim reported a satchel with night-vision goggles among other items taken. He also reported a firearms discharge that penetrated a front room wall; the department believes the round may have been fired from a neighbor's yard and emphasized safe firearm handling and appropriate backstops.
On July 24 a trailer containing DeWalt power tools and a power generator was stolen on Patty's Road; Dipoli estimated the loss at about $10,000. On July 29 an assault was reported on Water Street; officers have not located the suspect and the case remains under investigation. Traffic activity included about 10 auto crashes in July and one OVI arrest. Dipoli encouraged residents to lock vehicles and secure valuables, noting thieves target unlocked cars.
Dipoli also summarized dispatch activity (1,117 calls for service in Crosby Township with many other nonbillable details) and noted an impending move of some sheriff's office resources to the new Harrison Civic Center, pending IT hookups.
