Evendale Village Council approved six ordinances on emergency measures at its meeting, suspending second and third readings and adopting emergency clauses to enact the items immediately.
The council unanimously adopted ordinance 25-51, described by the mayor as addressing “amounts due upon certain contracts requiring certification of availability of funds,” after a motion to suspend further readings and a successful emergency-clause vote. The mayor declared: “I now declare ordinance 25 dash 51 adopted as an emergency.”
Ordinance 25-52 authorized a transfer from the contingency fund to the building maintenance department to cover additional seasonal hires; council members moved, seconded, suspended further readings and adopted the emergency clause before adopting the ordinance.
Ordinance 25-53 authorizes the mayor to enter a natural gas aggregation agreement with AEP Energy, as recommended by Energy Alliance Inc.; council again suspended the remaining readings, adopted the emergency clause and adopted the ordinance as an emergency.
Ordinance 25-54, an agreement with Landmark for signage on village-owned property, was read by title and discussed. The mayor clarified that the action did not adopt an emergency for that item, noting the sign will be moved farther north from its prior location.
Ordinance 25-55 authorizes hiring Kyle Taylor for a full-time building maintenance position in the service department. Council amended section 1 to specify the hire as “a nonexempt full-time employee,” then moved to suspend readings, adopted the emergency clause and adopted the ordinance as an emergency.
Ordinance 25-56 approved continuation of a community reinvestment area (CRA)/tax-increment arrangement between the village and Breakfire Inc., doing business as Silco Fire & Security, with council noting the company’s hiring and construction performance. Council suspended readings and adopted this ordinance as an emergency.
Across the ordinance votes, the clerk conducted roll-call confirmations after motions and seconds; for each ordinance the mayor called for a roll call that recorded affirmatives from the council members present, and the mayor declared the ordinances adopted where recorded. The meeting adjourned after the business was completed.
What happens next: each adopted ordinance will be processed per village administrative procedure; in the case of contracting or agreements, mayoral execution and administrative follow-up were indicated but specific implementation dates or contract details were not provided in the meeting record.
