Council resumes responsibility for Glendale car show and moves proceeds back to village control

Council adopted Ordinance 2025-42 to accept responsibility for operation of the annual Village of Glendale car show, to amend 2025 appropriations for the car show fund and to declare an emergency so distributions could be handled under village authority.
The mayor explained the committee previously partnered with the Harry Whiting Brown organization but differences about allowable uses of proceeds led the car show committee to resume direct responsibility. The mayor said this move will allow the village to write checks directly to five beneficiary organizations (Fire Department, Police, GYS, Boy Scouts and the Harry Whiting Brown organization) as had been done historically.
A motion to dispense with the three readings and a roll-call vote were recorded and the ordinance passed. Council members asked clarifying questions about returning funds and confirmed that the leftover proceeds from this year will be returned to the car show account.
Council noted younger volunteers are helping keep the car show going and that appropriations will be adjusted to reflect the village’s assumption of responsibility for the event.
