Sharonville City Council used part of its Sept. 9 meeting to honor longtime community member Mark Pietmayer and to highlight a police training award.
Mayor Hardman introduced a plaque honoring Pietmayer, citing his service in multiple city roles including council, law director, treasurer and auditor. The mayor described Pietmayer as a "pillar of our community" and noted the plaque will remain in the rotunda as part of the city—s honored citizens display.
The council also heard that the Sharonville Police Department received a National Safety Council distinction for its driver-training efforts. A department representative said officers attended one‑ or three‑day driver training at the Ohio Police Officers Training Academy as part of a broader training upgrade; the department was one of three Ohio recipients recognized and joins national programs with large training footprints.
Both items were presented as ceremonial and recognition matters; no formal council action was required. The items were highlighted during the mayor—s reports and communications section and were followed by routine committee reports and other agenda business.
