Mount Healthy student Deshayla Warlow honored as state high-jump champion

The Mount Healthy City School District board paused its business July 21 to recognize student-athlete Deshayla Warlow for winning the girls Division I high jump state championship.
Track coach Mister Moore presented a plaque to Warlow and noted she is the district’s first state champion in the event since 1994. Warlow told the board she missed graduation to compete and thanked her mother, coach Moore and teachers for their support.
“I’m truly honored to stand here as I reflect on what this journey has meant to me,” Warlow said. “Achieving this milestone wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support I've had along the way.”
Why it matters: Board members and staff said the recognition highlights student achievement and district pride. Warlow also received a scholarship to the University of Cincinnati, which the coach and the student noted during the presentation.
The board invited Warlow and the coach to pose for a photo with trustees; the remarks were recorded so family members unable to attend could view them later.
