Mariemont library to close Aug. 1 for renovations; some services relocated

The Mariemont branch will close Friday, Aug. 1 for renovations and is expected to reopen in December; holds will be rerouted (default to Anderson) and some programming will continue at the Fairfax Recreation Center.
Mandy Beecroft, representing the library, told the council the Mariemont branch will close for renovations on Friday, Aug. 1, with a target reopening in December. Staff and holds will be temporarily relocated: patrons with holds at the Mariemont branch will be rerouted by default to the Anderson branch unless they request a different location or change it online.
The library plans to continue some programming during renovations by using partner spaces. Beecroft said adult book club meetings will continue at the Fairfax Recreation Center and the library will shift the Saturday youth Dungeons & Dragons program to Monday evenings to fit the Fairfax schedule. A special family "Play House in the Park" program is scheduled for Oct. 30 at the Fairfax Rec Center.
What residents should know: Signage at the branch will show nearby alternatives, and staff encouraged patrons concerned about travel to contact the library so their holds can be routed to a preferred branch.
