County orders $6,300 ejector pump; completes fire-alarm tests, responds to nursing-home lamppost crash

LaSalle County buildings and grounds staff said the county ordered a JLD ejector pump for roughly $6,300 and recommended buying a backup unit to guard against potential failure.

Unidentified Speaker 5 said the new pump "was $6,300" including the rail mount, and that staff will attempt to repair the old unit; if repairs are not feasible, a backup unit will be purchased to prevent environmental risks from a pump failure. "If we don't get one fixed, we'll get a backup just to hang up and then drop it in when we need it," the speaker said.

Staff also reported that annual fire-alarm testing across the jail and related county buildings was completed and, as of the meeting, no deficiencies were known though paperwork is pending. Officials said the nursing home operates its own alarm system and the county's testing does not include it.

The county is also handling a vehicle incident at the nursing home: a culinary team member drove into a lamppost, knocking it over. A police report was filed, HR is involved, and Home Electric (the original installer) is expected to handle repairs; Mike Jordan is coordinating quotes with the vendor. The speaker described the lamppost as having substantial mass and said he expected an insurance claim to follow. The county did not provide an exact repair estimate at the meeting.
