LaSalle County property staff reported that new generators have been installed at park facilities, with a 26‑kilowatt generator placed at the restroom and a larger 60‑kilowatt unit intended for a modular building still awaiting final hookup.
Ken, a county maintenance staff member, said the propane tanks have not yet been connected but that contractors expect to install the tanks and complete the propane hookup this week. "So, the generators are in," Ken said, adding that the larger generator "still needs to get... they just have to run a line" before it will be fully operational.
The county also lowered posted speeds inside the park from 20 miles per hour to 10 miles per hour. "All the signs in the park are now 10 miles an hour," Ken said, explaining the change was prompted by increased park use and safety concerns for horses and children. When asked what would happen if drivers exceed the limit, Ken replied he cannot enforce traffic stops but said the sheriff could take action if speeding is observed or reported.
Staff described additional site work planned this winter: overseeding natural areas with seed collected on site, mowing and hand-clearing brush on slopes, and plumbing the maintenance shop for a centralized air compressor to provide outlets throughout the building and an exterior connection for vehicle tires. On water quality, Ken said county staff contacted vendors about a UV treatment system and scheduled Culligan to test the well for iron, noting UV systems can be sensitive to iron levels.
The county did not provide a timetable for the propane hookup or the compressor purchase. Officials said they will follow up with vendor estimates and scheduling as quotes and test results become available.
