Atascosa County Commissioners Court approved Change Order No. 1 to the tax office construction contract on Dec. 22, 2025, extending the contract completion date by 84 days.
Commissioner Bowen moved to approve the change order dated Dec. 11, 2025, which updates the contract timeline; the motion was seconded and carried by the court. The amendment adjusts the contract completion date to reflect the new schedule.
County project staff later updated the court on construction progress: the addition and phase-one remodel for the tax office were completed before Thanksgiving, crews have relocated staff to the new side, and remaining work includes slab pour scheduled for Jan. 16, 2026. Staff reported that plumbing rough-ins have been inspected and approved, with electrical inspections still pending.
Project managers told commissioners TxDOT review is required to complete water taps in the right of way and that the city's main water line includes an asbestos-concrete section that may need replacement; staff said the replacement could be part of the county contract unless the city agrees to share costs. Commissioners asked about responsibility for that work and were told the county contract would cover it unless the city participates.
The court approved the change order and directed staff to coordinate outstanding inspections and utility issues as the project moves toward completion.
