Koehler flagged a recurring attendance problem tied to a late-September Friday: "This year, there were 113 absences, and we were unable to fill 37 of those," he said, and the committee weighed moving a prep day to that September Friday to reduce instructional impacts. Principals agreed to repurpose a November prep afternoon for report-card work if the September prep-day change were adopted.
No formal vote was taken; the item was presented for information and questions. The board asked for clarity about the rationale for offering two calendars and the committee explained its approach, including giving one recently used calendar a chance to be evaluated before consolidating options in the future.
