Leander ISD students showcase leadership as district spotlights academic and arts awards

Principal Mrs. Magnel and assistant principal Ms. Freeman introduced the school’s NASA leadership team and said the group advises school leaders and works on projects to improve campus climate.
In a separate video the district presented awards and recognitions across schools: Vandegrift High School was named a 2025 6A Lone Star Cup winner for accomplishments in athletics, robotics and career and technical education; Calista Davis of Cedar Park High School was noted for a perfect ACT score; and Rouse High School’s theater director, Cheryl Painter, received a K–12 Theater Educator of the Year award. The district also said the Texas Art Education Association named Leander ISD a "district of distinction."
Superintendent Dr. Gearing thanked volunteers who assisted Vandegrift after a trailer incident and praised principals and school psychologists for their role supporting students. The board took no action related to the presentation; the item served to recognize student and staff achievements and to emphasize student involvement in district leadership activities.
The board also paused for a group photograph and invited parents to join students onstage after the presentation.
