Assistant Superintendent Pruitt explained the only substantive change was inserting a timeline (an October date) for when student information is provided to vocational/CTE partners. Committee members asked whether the policy should name specific schools (for example, Easton Middle School) and raised concerns about parent opt-out timing: the policy currently states information will be made available annually by Oct. 15 while parents may opt out "before Oct. 15," which could create a sequencing conflict.
Pruitt said staff could adjust the timeline language (for example, moving the notification date earlier) and noted the district already uses a Google form to collect opt-outs. Committee members suggested changing the send date to October 1 or otherwise creating a short gap so families have time to opt out before data are shared. No vote was taken; a second reading is scheduled at the next meeting as required by district policy.
