Adelanto IT director outlines network overhaul, remaining equipment needs and five-year plan

Anthony Sinatra, director of instructional technology for the Adelanto Elementary School District, told trustees on Sept. 23 that the district has made major progress modernizing email and student information systems by moving mission-critical services to the cloud and by refreshing Wi‑Fi access points, but still faces hardware work.
Sinatra said the district supports more than 20,000 devices and 7,500 users across 14 school sites and the district office. He described prior daily outages and security gaps that have been addressed by migrating email to Gmail, moving the student information system to the cloud and upgrading server controllers. Over the summer the district reprogrammed switches and performed a large network overhaul; staff are finishing an access-point refresh to improve Wi‑Fi coverage.
Remaining needs, Sinatra said, include replacing more than 150 aging network switches, streamlining wireless configurations, and updating campus fiber-optic runs. He recommended a systematic, campus‑by‑campus approach and described plans to leverage E‑Rate and other federal funds for hardware upgrades and to commission a five‑year technology plan and cybersecurity audit.
Trustees thanked the IT team and pressed for continued updates; the director said he will present further information as the district completes its needs assessment and planning work.
