Superintendent Doctor Settles reported preliminary enrollment and staffing numbers at the Oct. 13 board meeting, saying district counts are near final state submission and will be confirmed in December or January.
As of the October reporting window the district saw growth across elementary (+23), middle (+27) and high school (+28) levels for a K–12 net increase of 78 students and a net preK–12 increase of 57 when accounting for a preschool decline of 21. Superintendent Settles said the district’s October 10 count was 12,126 students.
On staffing, the district reported all classroom teacher positions and special-education teaching positions are currently filled. Recruiting continues for a school psychologist, a speech pathologist and one school nurse vacancy; the district has hired two behavior technicians and has additional interviews scheduled. Administration said health-paraprofessional and food-service positions remain areas of ongoing hiring need.
Board members asked clarifying questions about behavior-technician supervision and certification limits; administration said supervision requirements place a limit on RBTs per supervisor and the district plans a gradual scale-up as staff complete certification.
