San Angelo ISD bond projects on schedule; Crockett concrete pour set for morning

"Overall, you know, we're still on track right now," De Santiago said as he reviewed timelines and photos of footings and rebar.
De Santiago summarized progress across campuses: McGill Elementary has pre‑final construction documents and a targeted completion of construction documents in late November; Glenn Middle School's schematic design is due Nov. 18 and includes geotechnical investigations; Lakeview's schematics have been submitted and underwent a page‑turn review. At Central High School, preliminary surveys were received and schematic deliverables were being finalized.
The presentation included renderings and drone imagery for McGill, design massing and daylight analyses for Glenn, and program layout for Central that locates fine arts/auditorium, gymnasium and renovated culinary and health sciences labs. De Santiago described design decisions to balance natural light and solar heat mitigation: "we also make sure we analyze solar radiation, making sure that we don't have hot spaces," he said.
Board members sought capacity and schedule details. De Santiago said he would confirm exact capacities for the cafeteria and athletic spaces and noted the project schedule will be clearer by January once construction progress and owner‑architect meetings provide delivery dates. The board was told a third‑party cost estimator is being onboarded to validate project costing.
The board did not take action on construction items at the pre‑agenda meeting; formal votes on related consent or contract items are expected on the regular Nov. 17 agenda.
