Red Oak ISD says playgrounds and athletic fields nearing completion
Summary
Executive director Brent Stanford reported multiple playgrounds and athletic facilities are finished or near completion: Eastridge, Shutman, Wooden and Shields playgrounds complete; Red Oak Elementary ~25% complete; softball complex ~90% and baseball ~50%; district-wide work on stadium and new elementary continues on schedule.
Brent Stanford, executive director of support services, gave the board a construction update on district facilities and projects. He said several playground projects are finished—Eastridge, Shutman, Wooden and Shields are complete—and Red Oak Elementary’s playground is about 25% finished. Stanford said a ribbon cutting took place and students will be able to use the new playgrounds the next day.
On athletics, Stanford said the softball complex is about 90% complete with final touches underway and the baseball complex is about 50% complete with gravel down and plans to begin turf installation the following week. He told the board the district is "on schedule" for the broader portfolio of projects, including the stadium and a new elementary school, and that the district continues to collaborate with contractors on next steps.
"Everything is scheduled to be done on time," Stanford said, noting ongoing coordination with contractors and that final finishes remain to be completed at several sites. Board members thanked facilities staff for the work and asked no substantive questions during the brief update.
