Del Rio High Jazz Ensemble named commended winner in national Mark of Excellence program

Del Rio High School’s Jazz Ensemble was recognized Monday by the San Felipe-Del Rio CISD Board of Trustees as a commended winner in the 2025 Mark of Excellence National Jazz Honors.
Melissa, speaking for the district fine arts department, told the board that "the Del Rio High School Jazz Ensemble has been honored as a commended winner in the 2025 Mark of Excellence National Jazz Honors," and credited band directors Aldo Morales, Ms. Brown and Mr. Vasquez for the group’s work. The ensemble performed "Caravan" for the board during opening ceremonies.
Board President Mesa and other trustees congratulated the students and directors. President Mesa said the district plans to share a video of the performance publicly as part of a TASB effort to showcase public-school activities. The board offered best wishes to students for upcoming contests.
