Westfield approves $90,000 amendment to 191st Street phase 1 design contract

The City of Westfield approved a $90,000 amendment to the Lochmuller Group design contract for the 191st Street Phase 1 project, city staff said.
Michael Pierce, the city engineer, told the board the additional funding is primarily to pay for subsurface utility engineering (about $43,000) and additional coordination following newly installed utilities and tie-ins with the Harvest Trail project and the 191st-to-Grand Park Boulevard roundabout. “The total ask is about $90,000 in addition to the contract, which brings it from 1,370,000.00 to about $1,460,000 total,” Pierce said.
Pierce said staff negotiated with the consultant to arrive at the recommended price and that the amendment covers roadway and bridge design work. A board member asked whether phase 2 (to Spring Mill) was included; Pierce said phase 2 is a separate contract currently in design under a different consultant.
The board approved the amendment by voice vote. Staff said they expect to follow with construction-phase actions and that the phase 2 work would proceed once phase 1 construction wraps up.
