Superintendent Dr. Eldridge told trustees on Dec. 11 that the district plans a bond‑funded facility index to document each campus’s physical condition and support data‑driven decisions about future investments. She described the proposed product as a handbook that records a school’s year built, enrollment, HVAC/plumbing condition, foundation issues, capacity and other infrastructure details.
"With the facility index program, that means we will use a handbook that we've narrowed it down to...and this is all through bond funds," Dr. Eldridge said, explaining that the index grades each campus and creates a consistent, living record for community review. She said staff (including Bobby Shaw, Chris and Corey) will visit districts with completed programs to inform vendor selection and that the index must be completed before drafting a long‑range facility plan.
Trustees asked whether the work would be treated as a living document; Dr. Eldridge said yes and noted that the index will tie into budget planning for 2026–27. She also said the facility index will help the board and community prioritize investments: "When we start talking about schools...you can look in there and say, would we really want to invest that in a school that's 50 years old?" The superintendent said the index is intended to reduce ad hoc or emotionally driven capital decisions and to create consistent public documentation for each campus.
Next steps: administration will present vendor options and a timeline for completing the facility index and the related long‑range facility plan.
