The Defiance City Council voted Dec. 16 to adopt a final development plan for property known in the record as the Baddens Wildwood Addition, completing the city's final step for major-subdivision approval.
City staff told the council that the planning commission reviewed the plat at its May 19, 2025 meeting and issued a favorable recommendation after the applicant submitted late additions. Council members asked staff to confirm whether required sidewalks and any variances remained necessary; staff confirmed sidewalks are required and that no sidewalk variance had been granted by the planning commission.
After brief questions from council about site specifics, the council moved to suspend rules and adopted the ordinance on the floor by voice/roll-call votes. The ordinance completes the local approval necessary for the final plat to move forward under section 1165.05(d) of the city code as referenced in staff remarks.
No recorded amendments to the ordinance were made during the meeting. The approval followed the standard local process: planning-commission review, final plat submission and council action.
