Defiance council approves three appointments, schedules two executive sessions

The Defiance City Council approved three mayoral appointments and scheduled two executive sessions at its Dec. 16 meeting. Mayor McCune asked council to confirm reappointments and new nominees; council approved each by voice vote.
The appointments included reappointing Steve Huffman to the planning commission and appointing Angie Mohika and Chris Oberlin to seats on the title board. Council President called for the consent votes, and each motion carried with council members saying “aye.”
Council also approved two motions to move into executive session. Mr. Pack requested an executive session under the cited authority 121.22(G)(1) to discuss appointment of public officials; that motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. Separately, a request was made for a conference with the city attorney about disputes subject to imminent court action (identified in the record as 01/2022 G'3); that motion was also moved, seconded and approved.
The council returned to routine business after the votes and proceeded to consider several ordinances on first and final readings. The meeting adjourned to the first of the two executive sessions noted on the agenda.
