Evendale mayor previews 2026 plans: residential CRA study, new fire engine and service building work

Mayor Richard Feynon told residents at Evendale Village’s 74th annual town meeting that the village will study several infrastructure and community-development priorities for 2026, including a potential residential Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) that could offer tax breaks to homeowners who make improvements.
The CRA study, the mayor said, would expand the existing approach used for commercial developments to residential neighborhoods. “These would enable houses to get a tax reduction if they make improvements on their house,” the mayor said, noting Blue Ash has seen about $95 million in residential development since 2014 after adopting similar policies.
Feynon also said the village has ordered a new fire engine that is expected to arrive no later than 2027 and that officials are studying renovation or replacement options for the existing fire department building, parts of which date to the 1950s. The mayor said the village plans to repurpose the old service building once the new service facility is fully operational and invited residents to an open house for the new Service Building on Nov. 14 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
On the Cultural Arts Building, Feynon said work to install an elevator has been delayed by an underground spring, but officials anticipate the elevator will be completed by early 2026 if conditions allow. He told the room the village also plans a decorative fountain to mark Evendale’s 75th anniversary in 2026 and will announce additional celebratory events later.
Other priorities listed by the mayor included replacing police vehicles and service dump trucks, upgrading computers across offices, and investing in cybersecurity improvements. He said the village will upgrade traffic-control hardware and software but will not add or remove traffic signals, so existing traffic patterns should not change.
The mayor framed these items as part of a broader effort to keep the village fiscally and operationally prepared while marking the community’s upcoming anniversary. He closed by thanking council members, administration staff and first responders for their service.
