Tinley Park board approves liquor license, insurance renewal, pay-scale changes and three staff appointments

The Tinley Park Village Board took several formal actions at its Dec. 2 meeting.
Ordinance — Sheik E Buffet: The board adopted an ordinance amending Title 11, Chapter 112, Section 22 to permit a Class E liquor license for Sheik E Buffet at 16060 S. Harlem Ave. Marty McAlpin spoke on behalf of the owners. The ordinance was adopted by roll call.
Resolution — Insurance renewal (R-139): Trustee Bill Brady summarized the village’s renewal with the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association for liability and workers’ compensation coverage. Brady said the policy carries a minimum premium of $1,109,119 and a potential maximum contribution not to exceed $1,752,186. The board adopted the resolution by roll call.
Ordinance — Pay scales (appendices A & B): The board adopted an ordinance amending pay scales and certain fringe benefits for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2025 and ending April 30, 2026. The ordinance was eligible for adoption following prior committee discussion and passed by roll call.
Appointments: The board confirmed three personnel appointments by roll call: Alexander Flam (maintenance technician), Peter (custodian, effective 12/02/2025) and Matthew O'Donnell (maintenance technician, effective 12/08/2025). Each appointment was introduced with brief experience statements (equipment and trades experience; prior military service noted for two candidates).
Consent agenda and minutes: The board approved the posted consent agenda and the Nov. 18, 2025 meeting minutes by roll call earlier in the session.
Vote records: For each item the clerk called the roll and trustees recorded affirmative 'Yes' votes; no 'No' or abstain votes were recorded in the transcript for the adopted items.
