Orting School District administers oath, elects board officers

The Orting School District Board of Directors administered the oath of office to Michael Milo and elected its officers for the coming year during a meeting that opened at 6:01 p.m. on Monday.
“I, Michael Milo, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the constitution and laws of the state of Washington,” Milo said while taking the oath to serve as Director, position No. 1.
Board members then moved to elect officers. An unidentified board member nominated Carrie Thibodeaux for president; the nomination was seconded and the board proceeded with a roll-call vote that resulted in Thibodeaux being selected as president. The board likewise nominated and approved Melissa Kinsler as vice president and Michael Milo as the district’s Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) representative.
Separately, the board voted to modify the published agenda to add a communications presentation under reports. The motion was moved and seconded and passed with an affirmative vote.
The meeting included routine ceremonial remarks and a superintendent preview of items expected at the January meeting, including contract considerations tied to a recent bond approval.
The board’s next regularly scheduled meeting will include contract considerations for architect services and an owners’ representative; the superintendent said staff will bring details to the January agenda for formal consideration.
