District auditor gives clean opinion; board accepts annual comprehensive financial report

Lautenbach auditor Allison Kamen told the Community High School District 155 board that the audit for fiscal year 2024 resulted in a clean opinion and encouraged trustees to review the Management’s Discussion & Analysis in the posted packet.
Kamen highlighted key figures from the report: an ending general fund balance of about $50,500,000 (approximately 68% of total fund balance) and a net increase in the general fund of roughly $3.5 million. She also pointed trustees to the notes to the financial statements and capital and debt schedules in the packet and noted two upcoming GASB standards (103 and 104) to be implemented in fiscal year 2026.
In the management letter the auditor included one current recommendation related to IT security and awareness and noted that the transportation fund is projected to be over budget — a common management letter comment she said is often tied to the difficulty of exact budgeting for transportation services.
After Kamen’s presentation, the board moved to accept the annual comprehensive financial report as presented; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
