International Falls City Council approves licenses, claims and ambulance ventilator maintenance contract

The council approved four named 2026 license renewals as presented: Sammy's Pizza (on-sale liquor, restaurant license, Sunday liquor), Chocolate Mousse (restaurant license; wine on-sale; 3.2% on-sale), VFW Post 2948 (club and restaurant licenses; Sunday liquor), and an off-sale/gas/cigarette license for International Falls (as recorded). The consent agenda earlier included three license renewals (Amex Tax and Duty Free; DNS Pizza; Smoke and Fire Inc. doing business as Dairy Queen), which passed unanimously. S and H Family Foods, doing business as McDonald's, was also referenced in the approvals.
The council authorized a one-year maintenance contract with Hamilton Medical covering two Hamilton T1 ventilators used by the ambulance service. Chief Manasseh explained that those two ventilators are the major ambulance items not covered under the city's Stryker lease and that the contract is for service on the two units for one year. The council voted to approve the maintenance agreement.
Council members discussed prior action on ambulance service and reported that a letter to the county board had been drafted and that some members had had verbal conversations with county representatives. No written county response had been received as of the meeting, and councilors said they would follow up if the county's letter did not arrive midweek.
The council moved and approved routine items including approval of the agenda (with the deletion and rescheduling of New Business item 4 to the Dec. 15 meeting), approval of previous meeting minutes, and the transfers and claims listed by the mayor. A Truth in Taxation meeting was scheduled to follow after a short break. The regular meeting was then adjourned.
