Board approves nearly $3.0M mechanical project bid, adopts donations resolution and routine policy reviews; sets Dec. 15 Truth in Taxation meeting

The board approved multiple administrative and capital items in a single business package.

Construction contract: Rick reviewed the award letter and bid tabulation for the Annandale High School mechanical improvement project, listing construction costs, architect/engineer involvement and the requirement for commissioning. The recommendation was to award the base bid of $2,986,342 to the low bidder and to reject Alternate 1 (sound reduction); the board moved, seconded and approved the contract award by voice vote.

Donations and policies: The board adopted the November resolution accepting donations (motion by Gina, second by Melissa) and approved two policies on their three‑year review cycle with no changes (Policy 409: employee publications, instructional materials, inventions/creations; Policy 412: expense reimbursement) on a motion by Jenna, second by Gina.

Recognitions: The board approved sending congratulations letters to state cross country qualifiers Emery Worth and Sonia Milner and noted a planned December recognition for the football team's state championship.

Unfinished business and facilities: Earlier in the meeting the district reported current enrollment at 1,933 students (down about nine since Sept. 12) and Rick reported track painting is complete with a contractor punch list walkthrough scheduled; chiller/dehumidification bids were received for the high school and are slated to start after school ends.

Scheduling: The board announced the next monthly meeting and the Truth in Taxation hearing for Monday, Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the Annandale Elementary School Media Center.
