Sylvania design panel clears Kroger sign refresh with new logo

The Sylvania Board of Architecture Review approved a regulated sign application Dec. 10 that will allow Kroger to refresh exterior signage with the retailer’s new cart logo.
Darren, a Kroger representative, told the board the proposal is a like-for-like replacement: "This is a sign refresh with their new logo," he said, adding that the pylon and monument signs would use the same materials and colors. Zoning staff said the replacement does not change any dimensional or code-related elements and raised no objection. The board moved to approve Regulated Sign App. 37-2025 by voice vote; no opposition was recorded.
The approval permits Kroger to update existing freestanding and pylon signage with the new logo artwork, subject to standard permit and installation requirements.
Next steps: Kroger should coordinate with the city’s zoning office on any required sign permits and inspections before installation.
