Sylvania architecture panel approves color and material samples for Brent Road units and Sylvania Square trim update

The Sylvania Board of Architecture Review voted Dec. 10 to approve exterior color and material samples for multiple building-review applications, including two units at 6566 Brent Road and a trim update at Sylvania Square, 5801 Monroe.

The board reviewed samples submitted for Building Review App. 30-2025 (6566 Brent Road, Building 2) and App. 31-2025 (Building 3). A staff speaker described the roof as a dimensional Owens Corning Duration shingle in a green tone described in the packet, and said the siding would be a beige, 4-inch lap profile. Staff confirmed that “all the buildings on the property would be of the same character, same siding, same trim color, same roof.” On that representation the board moved and approved the application by voice vote with no opposition recorded.

The commission also considered Application 35-2025 for Sylvania Square at 5801 Monroe. The applicant explained the proposed base color is a custom off-cream the applicant referred to as “pine place cream,” with a darker trim/awning color limited to the top area where signs appear. The applicant told the board the top trim is wood and there would be no change to the building walls, only the top area around signage. The board approved the application on a motion and voice vote after reviewing the revised color information.

Board members did not raise outstanding zoning or material-code concerns for these items during the architectural-review portion of the meeting. Applicants were told to follow up with staff on any submittal items required for permits.

Next steps: applicants may proceed with procurement and installation consistent with the approved samples, and staff will confirm any permit or inspection requirements before work begins.
