Trenton council approves asbestos abatement, LMC Electric lighting bid and routine budgets

Court and budget items: Council received and placed on file fines and costs from the 30th District Court showing the city received $12,001.45, and moved to approve the court’s 2026 budget for the period Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026. Both motions were moved and supported and recorded as unanimously ordered.
Asbestos abatement: The council approved a proposal from BDS Environmental for testing and asbestos abatement at the former VFW Post 1888 in the amount of $48,200. The city administrator said the firm had been vetted through the city’s contract manager and had performed similar work at the Trenton Motor Inn.
Westfield Center lighting: Parks and Recreation Director Dan Beaker reported that LMC Electric submitted the lowest qualified bid to replace lighting at the Westfield Center at $39,891.51; the council awarded the contract and authorized the mayor and staff to spend up to a total of $55,000 to add additional lighting and outlets as needed during the renovation.
Routine finance approvals: Councilwoman Hornback moved to approve authorized disbursements dated Nov. 24, 2025, in the amount of $3,429,164; that motion and a series of moves to accept routine reports and minutes (financial summary, investment schedule, commission minutes and the police department monthly report for October 2025) were moved, supported and unanimously ordered.
