The short remarks portion following the oaths featured thank-you comments from the newly reelected members. Councilwoman Rodriguez thanked voters and supporters and said she looked forward to “continu[ing] the work that we’ve been doing here in the city of Trenton.” Councilman Rick Benedetti and Councilwoman Von Crooks also offered brief remarks of appreciation to residents and to staff.
The mayor said the inauguration and ceremony were followed by refreshments and a planned photo session; the council returned later the same evening for its regular meeting. The council took no formal policy votes during the inauguration segment; it adjourned the ceremonial portion and recorded a unanimous procedural order to reconvene for the regular meeting.
