North Penn High School renovation nears Dec. 1 occupancy for K Pod third floor and natatorium

Mr. Gilmer’s construction update reported that casework and furniture are installed in the chemistry labs, corridor and classroom flooring is complete, lockers are in place, and mechanical tie-ins and control wiring are near completion. “This is your construction update for November 2025,” the video narration stated, noting completion steps before occupancy.
In the natatorium the pool has been filled and balanced, K‑rank acoustic panels and stainless‑steel railings are in place, and Pennsylvania state inspection has been passed pending final electrical documentation and remaining paperwork. Project staff said finishing work remains on tiling, epoxy coatings on bleacher steps and a final camera platform coating before athletics can fully use the space.
CHA’s Mr. Lynch said the NPDS permit is in hand and recorded with the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds, clearing major permitting hurdles for bid package 2 and enabling a planned procurement and start schedule. He reported the transportation building contract is moving forward with SJ Thomas and that the program remains “on track at that magic number just under $260,000,000,” with contingencies available to transfer savings across bid packages as needed.
Project timeline: staff described a phased approach with bid package 1 finishing and the district moving to bid package 2 approvals and ground‑clearing work; the transportation building is planned to begin after site clearing with break‑ground activity slated for spring 2026 and substantial completion of the initial K Pod and natatorium work timed to allow student access on Dec. 1.
What this means for students and staff: administrators and facilities staff said teachers and students have been notified of classroom moves, and the district will provide assistance and signage to help with new circulation routes when classes resume. Staff also said noisy demolition work will be concentrated over holiday breaks and weekends where feasible to minimize instructional disruption.
Next steps: final township inspections, punch‑list work, final electrical documentation for the natatorium and coordinated teacher moves ahead of the Dec. 1 target.
