The Lynchburg Town Commission voted unanimously on Oct. 6 to grant a six-month extension to complete work at 200 Fairchild Drive, where the applicant said interior work is largely finished but exterior items remain.
Mister Serrano, the contractor handling the project, told the commission the rear concrete patio was completed under a separate permit and that remaining work includes siding, shutters, exterior lights and landscaping. Commissioners discussed whether 120 days would be adequate and several urged a six-month extension to allow for weather-related constraints on landscaping and exterior work.
During discussion commissioners noted the original building permit was issued in October 2024 and that the house has been under construction for several years under different owners. Some commissioners expressed concern that issuing a conditional occupancy without landscaping or exterior completion would be premature.
A motion to approve a six-month extension was made and seconded. Roll-call votes recorded the following 'Yes' votes: Travis Dunlap; Michelle Watkins; Gordon McCormack; Aaron Adcock; Bernie Poparack; Roseanne Bozak; Jeremy McHarg. The chair announced the extension is effective from the date of the meeting.
The extension includes a direction that staff verify outstanding permit status and return to the commission if the exterior work is not progressing. The commission did not adopt a detailed enforcement schedule at the meeting.
