"So what I did is I took that 35 gallons per day times 40 seats and then multiplied by 30 days and came up with 42,042 gallons per month," Jeanette said; using the town definition of 7,000 gallons per ERU, she reported that produced "exactly 6 ERU." The board accepted that interim assignment for billing purposes pending an annual review based on 12 months of actual usage, if available.
Board members discussed two issues: whether the town can obtain 12 months of meter readings from Indiana American Water Company without the business's direct involvement, and how the town’s chapter 18 code and the sewer-rate study affect periodic ERU adjustments. Speakers noted the town previously accessed data for the four‑year sewer-rate study and indicated staff can attempt to pull usage by address from Indiana American's portal. The board asked staff to identify the commercial accounts to be checked and to bring available data by the next meeting for possible reassessments or appeals.
