Resident says front-yard drainage 'does not drain properly'; board to follow up

A Burns Harbor resident told the Stormwater Board that standing drainage in front of his house has not been fixed despite a prior site visit and promised repairs. "It does not drain properly now," resident Jerry Mansella said about the stormwater drainage ditch at 1245 Cohen Street, describing elevations measured during an earlier inspection and asserting planned manhole elevation changes were not carried out.
Mansella said the inlet elevation must change before slope corrections can be made and noted a neighbor petition and a town pavement-width issue that complicates solutions: "...the minimum width of the pavement is supposed to be 22 feet in Burns Harbor, and it's 17 feet at our house." Board members said this was the first they had heard of the matter in their role as the board and asked Mansella to leave his contact information with staff. A board member told him staff would contact the appropriate people to investigate and find the proper course of action.
No formal action or vote was taken on the drainage complaint at the meeting; staff committed to follow up with the resident and with town departments or contractors as needed. The board asked Mansella to provide his name and phone number to Gina for follow-up.
