Stormwater board approves minutes and financial report; schedules Feb. 18 meeting

The Burns Harbor Stormwater Board approved minutes from its Oct. 15 meeting and accepted the current financial report at its most recent meeting. A motion to approve the Oct. 15 minutes was made and seconded and passed on a roll call; Lisa Graves, Warren McCormick and Jack McGraw were recorded as voting yes. A separate motion to accept the financial report as written was also made, seconded and carried with an affirmative roll call vote.

The financial sheet presented by staff listed year-to-date revenues and the starting balance; staff said there had been no expenditures to date and that some tax payments (the next installment) had not yet been received. "There have not been any expenditures, but you can see there the revenue that we've taken in this year and what our starting balance was," staff said during the report. Board members questioned why the ledger showed $6,400 year to date and were told collections are paid in halves and a later tax payment may account for the difference.

The board distributed a draft meetings calendar for the coming year and set the next stormwater board meeting for Feb. 18, 2026, at roughly 6:30 p.m.; staff asked members to tell Gina if rescheduling is needed. The meeting adjourned after a public comment item and follow-up commitments from staff to investigate a drainage complaint.
