County administration updated the board on several infrastructure and planning efforts on Dec. 16.
Lorain County Transit will hold a press briefing at 2 p.m. at the Transportation and Community Center to explain CMAT grant dollars and how the funds will be used for the system's future. The county plans additional public information sessions and an employer focus group in January to gather input for the transportation development plan.
The county has engaged Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) for a space utilization study; staff said they held a kickoff meeting and must supply a list of staffing and square footage data by Dec. 22 so JLL can proceed with the analysis.
Staff reported a Jan. 5 kickoff with Cresco and Shook to begin due diligence to find 80–90 acres for a West Side water resource recovery facility; the due‑diligence window was estimated at 90–120 days.
Public‑safety communications testing of the county's wireless communications system was described as substantially complete. Staff reported tests were performed in 92 buildings serviced by Lorain County towers; nine buildings registered below the 95% target and Motorola engineers will return to re‑test those locations. Staff said the state of Ohio intends to assume maintenance of the towers and related long‑term responsibilities once contracts are finalized.
Commissioners were also briefed on an upcoming ODOT Aviation presentation about the Ohio State Airport System Plan Update. No formal actions were taken on these items during the Dec. 16 meeting.
