At its Dec. 1 meeting the Manteno Village Board approved several routine but consequential financial and procurement items.
Equipment purchase: The board approved the purchase of a 2026 John Deere 1575 terrain cut front mower and a 2026 John Deere 72‑inch side discharge mower deck for a combined total of $48,066.01 (equipment $43,032.52; deck $5,033.49). The mower will replace an older unit used for downtown street and sidewalk cleaning; trustees indicated the purchase will also allow summer mowing operations.
Tax levy: The board adopted Ordinance 25‑26, a levy and assessment of taxes on real property for the fiscal year commencing 05/01/2025 and ending 04/30/2026. The ordinance was moved, seconded and approved by roll call without discussion.
Bills: The board approved payment of bills in the amount of $175,232.28 (including TIF). Trustee comments noted that about $137,000 of that total reflected a public‑works comp insurance premium the village was required to pay.
All three items were approved by roll call votes with trustees recorded as voting 'yes.' No roll call dissent or abstentions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
Next steps: The finance committee will meet Dec. 15 at 5:00 p.m. to continue regular oversight of village finances.
