Manteno deputy clerk resigns to run restaurant; Alan Pickrell appointed village clerk

Carrie Roniak told the Village Board on Dec. 1 that she is resigning as elected deputy village clerk because she will be taking over a restaurant in another state. "This isn't easy for me to do, but I had an important decision to make... I'm taking over a restaurant and happens to be in another state," Roniak said, thanking residents and saying Manteno will always be a special place to her.
Trustees and the mayor publicly praised Roniak, wished her well and moved to appoint Alan Pickrell as village clerk. Trustee Geske made the motion to appoint Pickrell and Trustee Berry seconded it; a roll call vote was recorded with all members voting yes. Pickrell then took the oath of office, repeating the pledge to support the U.S. and Illinois constitutions.
Board members said they were confident Pickrell has relevant government experience and welcomed him to the village staff. No vacancy timeline or process for filling the now‑vacant deputy clerk seat was specified during the meeting.
