Jack DeGolster presented the proposal, citing a vendor quote of $33,787 and noting a 25% local match would be roughly $8,446. DeGolster said the project qualifies as a natural-hazard mitigation activity and that volunteer or employee in‑kind hours (but not elected officials’ hours) could be applied to reduce the county’s cash match.
Commissioners discussed funding sources and confirmed there are funds available in the county building budget to cover a match if required. The board voted to submit the notice of intent and to pledge the local match if the county receives the grant.
Ending: The notice of intent is due Jan. 6; the full application is due in March. If the county is awarded the grant, staff will return with a project agreement and formal budget appropriation as needed.
